Episode #4

The Pulse

Put simply, to canvass is to initiate direct contact with individuals and there is a good reason why it is commonly used during political campaigns: there’s no better way to get to know each other than finding ourselves face to face and have a conversation!

The last month of canvassing and knocking on doors all around the city has allowed me to gain invaluable insights of what is being done right and what needs to improve in the City for you to be an even prouder resident of Victoria. It also allowed many of you to ask me the tough questions and see for yourself what type of person I am and what I can do for you as a City Councillor.

Having a team of volunteers by my side as I visit neighborhoods has made a huge difference in the amount of people I have been able to reach out to! This is fundamental to the success of my campaign. The more doors we knock on, the more people get to know about me, the more support I gain and the more chances I have to be your voice at City Council!

I need more of you outside with me, canvassing and spreading my name around! I’m out there everyday, so the opportunities for canvassing are numerous and can fit any and all agenda. If you are new to it, we got you covered with our Super Saturday Canvass training happening this upcoming Saturday, February 22nd, starting at noon at the HQ Office, 843 Fort Street. We will teach you everything you need to know and you will  be paired with another canvasser so you can get comfortable as you are gaining real-life experience. If you already are a seasoned canvasser, this day is for you too as we need your expertise!

Let’s make it a Super Saturday!! Come have fun, meet other residents that are also devoted to their city and are supporting me as their new independent voice at City Council! Help me grow my amount of supporters by becoming a Super Canvasser!!

Featured Canvasser
Andrew Capeau, President of Victoria Pedicab Company, was passing by our HQ Office and got lured in by the smell of homemade cookies (alright, this can’t be proven, but I bet it had something to do with it!) and left as a supporter! He is now a converted canvasser!

« I met Rachael during a chance encounter outside her campaign HQ. I was welcomed in and encouraged to participate in an informal group gathering. So I did. I could tell from the onset that Rachael has a genuine desire to do good in this city. I learned that she has had a career as a nurse and manager and can be decisive while also be willing to listen to thoughts and ideas from many different perspectives. She stated that she is not an expert in everything and that it is important to listen to people who know more and have a vested interest.  We need someone who can provide an independent and open minded fact gathering process. That’s what is so necessary right now--a bridge builder that can bring people together. That is Rachael Montgomery, a leader and voice who will represent our city very well. »
